Im starting this group to bring together local people with like interests in plant identification, wild edibles and native skills. It is my belief that nature gives us abundance and with proper care we can teach future generations to help preserve the abundance of the natural world. I couldn't stand that I would go for a walk in nature and not know what was edible and what would hurt me and I soon realized that this knowledge that has been kept for thousands of years is disappearing amongst the …
I should first clarify that the group isn't exclusive to gram weenies, gram counters or "stupid light" hikers, and I say all of those being one myself, especially those moments when cutting toothbrushes in half or counting ibuprofen or bandaids to make certain I am not carrrying too many. It is open to one and all who want to get to the backcountry. My inclination and desire is for trips of varying distances, and in some cases, a lighter backpack will allow for easier miles and more off trai …

Whatever the activity we're about self-love and sisterhood amongst women of color. All levels of experience with inner and outer wilderness welcome. If any female feels she need anything beyond herself to legi …

This is a group for yogis who are also hikers. We hike, we practice yoga, we meditate, we become friends. Our best sun salutations are in the wilderness where we feel complete and one whole with Mother Earth. Our hikes are challenging but our yoga retreats in the woods and in the mountains are peaceful. Our outings will be in small groups as wilderness and crowds do not go together. I am a member of other meetups and I learned from those experiences. I would like to set up this one differently. …
